A setback (hopefully minor) for ASTS Yesterday, BlueBird 7, ASTS's eighth satellite to be placed into low Earth orbit, failed to reach its predetermined position. It means it is too low to sustain operations and will be "de-orbited." In other words, it will burn up on reentry into Earth's atmosphere. It was using Bezos's New Glenn rocket. It says it is fully covered by insurance. It is currently producing BlueBirds 8 to 32 and still expects to have approximately 45 satellites

So far, this has been a good investment, with the share price up 20%. The contract outline below is short of numbers, but I think it's probably a pretty big deal. With further satellite launches to come in the next few months, I think the news flow continues to be positive. With the share price at new highs, I expect further share price appreciation.

I think a theme for 2026 will be space. The IPO of SpaceX is expected later this year, which I think will focus investor attention on the sector.
